Billing and Insurance for visit to GP
Concerning Dutch insurance companies, as well as some international insurances (Vanbreda International, BUPA), there is - for those covered 100% - an automatic billing and reimbursement process linked to your registration with our GP practice and visits to the doctor. As a registered patient, your insurance provider pays a yearly registration fee (either quarterly or annually) in conjunction to your consultation fees per visit.
Some international insurance companies are not automatically billed. In addition, if there is a co-payment under your plan (for instance, Vanbreda insurance holders at NATO, ESTEC/ESA, UNO, etc), the cost of registration and consultations is billed to and settled directly by the patient. Therafter, you submit the bill to your insurance for reimbursement. The percentage of reimbursement will depend on the coverage of your plan.
Even if you are not officially registered with our GP practice, you may visit us for second opinions and all other paramedical treatment services. However, we advise you to you check your coverage for each service with your insurance provider as the costs will be billed to and directly settled by you.
You may change your GP at any time, however, because one may not be registered with two GPs at the same time, one should deregister with their current GP prior to registering with a new GP. In addition, to avoid any billing redundancies we also advise - especially those insured with Dutch insurance companies - to kindly inform your insurance provider of the change in doctors.
