Speech & Language Therapy

Speech & Language Therapists work with a variety of people - from children who stammer to elderly recovering from brain injury or stroke.  Communication is involved in every aspect of our lives. Therefore, the aim of a Speech and Language Therapist is to eliminate and/or improve any difficulties in speech, language, communication and swallowing, removing unnecessary frustration for both children and adults.

Karen Lantsheer, BSc Honours (English) was born in, and grew up in Northern Ireland.  She studied to be a Speech and Language Therapist at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh in Scotland and graduated in 2009.  Karen is now a private Speech and Language Therapist working in Den Haag at the British School of The Netherlands; The Activity Shop International Daycare and at the International Health Centre of The Hague on Tuesdays.

Areas of Practice/Expertise: Rehabilitation/therapy to English speaking adults who have suffered a stroke; brain injury; who have Parkinson's Disease; MS and other causes of speech, language and communication difficulties.  Assessment and therapy for a wide range of speech, language and communication difficulties in bilingual children, including stammering, autism and voice disorders. Goals: To help children and adults reach their full potential in speech, language and communication taking into consideration what is most important to them. Provide the most recent evidence-based therapy.

Note: After school appointments may be available for children upon request. Sessions are often not covered by Dutch Insurance companies, but are normally covered by International Insurance companies.
