Avivith Stassen, B.S. (Nutrition) (Dutch, English)

As long as I can remember, I loved to eat and was fascinated by the effect of food on the body. When I was 20-years-old, I studied and received a Bachelor's Degree in the Science of Nutrition at the University of Jerusalem. After my study I did a half year internship at Carmel Hospital in Haifa to become a recognized dietician.
Over the last years I worked as a dietician in both clinical and out-patient clinic settings. After following diverse courses following university and much practical experience, I became specialized in children's nutrition and diabetes. Here follows an overview of my specialties for the treatment of both children and adults.
Approach: In order to find the best way to assist a client with their health, I focus together with them to find the optimum balance between their individual needs and the general guidelines of nutrition. Experience has taught me that clients/patients who receive dietetic advice already have a long medical history (medicines, intakes, treatment, disappointed expectations, etc.) and a history of dieting, so I emphasise the need to work together with the client, instead of dictating what they should do.
Areas of Practice/Specialties: Children: allergies in infants and children, allergy prevention, allergies during breast feeding, celiac (gluten intolerance); Children and adults: obesity, diabetes; Adults: high blood pressure, high cholesterol, underweight/ nutritional deficiency, problematic intestine function
